Welcome to SW2020-21 Covid-19!
Hello and welcome to the website of SW2020-21 Covid-19 magazine. This was a free, online magazine/journal which was initially published in five editions between April 9th, 2020 and July 14th, 2020 during the height of the first UK lockdown due to the Covid pandemic, and subsequently a special edition linked to the calling of a Review of the English children’s social care system which was published on April, 28th, 2021. All articles remain fully available.

Background to SW2020-21 Covid-19 Magazine
The magazine was initially set up as a forum for people to share ideas, thoughts, and experiences related to the Covid pandemic and social work and care. It encouraged submissions from people with lived experience, practitioners, activists, as well as academics, and encouraged a mixture of forms of submission : from personal reflections, creative writing, art work and cartoons to shorter form academic journal type submissions.
The five editions in 2020 and the special edition from 2021 contain over 125 submissions which came from authors based in all four UK countries as well as from Aotearoa New Zealand, Australia, Canada, China, Ireland and Israel.
The magazine was run by a six person editorial collective based in the UK consisting of Brid Featherstone, Anna Gupta, Christian Kerr, Gillian MacIntryre, Abyd Quinn-Aziz and Robin Sen (five social work academics based in England, Scotland and Wales and a social work practitioner based in England). For the special edition we were supported by a Peer Review Team of Taliah Drayak, Lys Eden, Denisha Killoh, Jimmy Paul and John Radoux, all of whom have writing, campaigning and lived experience.
